About this app

Biblical Hebrew grammar, paradigms and a Hebrew lexicon in your pocket.

iHebrew puts the Hebrew grammar, vocabulary, and lexical tools you need for reading the Old Testament in one place — built for seminary and Bible college students, pastors, and self-learners.

QUICK LOOKUP HEBREW LEXICON
Look up any word two ways: tap its consonants on the built-in keyboard to find its dictionary form (no vowel points or final forms to worry about), or tap the word exactly as it appears in the text and let iHebrew resolve it back to its lemma, parsing included. Each word card adds frequency, weak-root notes and an example verse, with a button to the matching paradigm.

VERB IDENTIFIER
Not sure what stem or conjugation you're looking at? Answer a few simple questions about the verb's prefix, doubling, and vowels, and iHebrew walks you to the answer step by step, with a confidence rating and a link to the matching paradigm. It even knows rare stems like Polel, Pilpel and Hishtaphel.

PARADIGM CHARTS
28 paradigm charts from Futato's Beginning Biblical Hebrew: all seven verb stems (Qal, Niphal, Piel, Pual, Hiphil, Hophal, Hithpael) plus the weak-root patterns that make verbs tricky — I-Guttural, III-He, Hollow, Geminate, and more. Browse by stem or by root type, and turn on affix highlighting to see exactly which letters are prefixes and suffixes, shown in red.

MORPHOLOGY & SYNTAX
The Biblical Hebrew grammar section covers nouns and adjectives, segolates, the article, pronouns and pronominal suffixes, numerals and prepositions, and the syntax topics that trip up second-year students: the construct chain, clause types, commands and prohibitions, participles, infinitives, the perfect in use, narrative vav-consecutive, particles, and poetry.

FULL BDB LEXICON ENTRIES
Go beyond a quick gloss with the complete entry from Brown-Driver-Briggs (BDB), the classic Hebrew lexicon, for over 7,500 words, cross-referenced to Strong's numbers.

ALSO INCLUDED
• Alphabet & Vowels — a clean starting point for absolute beginners
• A full glossary browsable letter by letter
• 6 songs for learning Biblical Hebrew, linked and ready to play

Whether you're cramming for a parsing quiz or working slowly through a passage for Sunday's sermon, iHebrew is the Biblical Hebrew grammar reference you'll actually reach for.
