Born into a literary family, his father, Patrick, was battlefield companion of the legendary American war correspondent, Ernest Hemingway. His father, by his fortieth birthday, had fought frontline if four wars. A literary man, his father was a lifelong personal friend of Ireland's most revered playwright, Sean O'Casey. Michael's mother, Kathleen, who also mentored his writing skills, was a friend of Dolores Ibarruri, Spain's Civil War revolutionary La Pasionaria. Few, other than Michael, have a better grounding in the horrors and futilities of conflict between peoples. Michael was surely born into the right family. Michael has, so far, authored twenty titles.
